Nokia 5800 And 5530 Get New Features Via Software Update

Well here's some good news if you own one of two older Symbian^1 devices. The Nokia 5800 and 5530 did not and will not get updated to Symbian Anna (or Belle for that matter), so the situation for these phones can look kind of bleak. Yet it is not entirely so, for Nokia has been working on porting some of the aspects of the Anna update to Symbian^1 and they have now finally made it to the 5800 and 5530.

Motorola Atrix 4G Gingerbread Update

Motorola Atrix 4G owners will be very happy to hear that their official Gingerbread update is now available for download on their computers. This update brings Gingerbread 2.3.4 to Atrix 4G owners through Motorola's website. The update brings all of the awesome features of Gingerbread to your device such as improved web browsing, HD Video, Playback, and other miscellaneous improvements.

Samsung Starts Rolling Our Gingerbread Update For Ace

Although the Gingerbread ROM for the Samsung Ace leaked months back Samsung never got around to releasing it officially. Until now, that is. SamFirmware is reporting that Samsung has started rolling out the Gingerbread update for the Ace through Kies.

The Motorola Atrix 4G just got one step closer to Gingerbread, as early versions of the OTA update for the Gingerbread go for a test drive. This was hinted last month by Motorola's VP of International Marketing, but now we are on the verge of getting an official release date.

HTC Salsa Gets It First Software Update



The HTC Salsa, one of two recently unveiled HTC Android-powered smartphones to be Facebook-focused, is not even available in all markets, yet it has already received its first software update. That's either a good sign that HTC wants to support this device with many updates, or its a bad sign that the Salsa was launched with some nasty bugs still present in its software.

Motorola Releases Android 2.2 Update For Defy Users In The UK

It has been a long time coming but the Motorola Defy owners in the UK can now finally get some taste of Froyo on their phone that others around the world have been enjoying for some time now. Motorola has released a software update v34.177.3 for the Defy, which will upgrade the phone from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android 3.1 Update Now Rolling Out In Europe

One of the more interesting Android-powered tablets that have hit the streets this year running Android Honeycomb is certainly the Asus Eee Pad Transformer with its keyboard dock that allows it to be both tablet and netbook, according to your needs and people seem to have appreciated Asus thinking out of the box on this, since this tablet has been selling very well everywhere its been launched (of course, the decent price surely helped too).

Well it's good news for all Galaxy S owners and an incentive for future Galaxy S II owners as Samsung has kept its promise to give the Gingerbread treatment to the Galaxy S at any cost and it seems that the update is rolling out anew for the ex-flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S II Gets Two Software Updates, Some Issues Fixed

The Samsung Galaxy S II got two new updates before we could even order food after completing its own review. Anyway, we did not know the phone had issues that needed fixing in the first place but someone at Samsung must have admitted to screwing something up. They claim a bug related to automatic brightness was addressed, Swype was made more responsive and some connectivity issues were fixed.

New Android Phones From Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericsson And Motorola Will Get Software Upgrades For 18 Months After Launch

Earlier today, while announcing Android Ice Cream Sandwich, Google has also unveiled details on upcoming software upgrades for Android devices. Together with other major companies, Google has agreed to "adopt guidelines for how quickly devices are updated after a new platform release, and also for how long they will continue to be updated".

Droid X Approved For Gingerbread Update

We heard an enticing rumor last week that the Droid X would be finally receiving Gingerbread on 13 May after being submitted to Verizon many times before. The update was originally supposed to come in April, but Verizon pulled the plug after they wanted to change a few things.

Windows Phone 7 Devices Updated Unofficially Would Not Be Getting Any Further Official Updates

Yesterday Microsoft released a new (security) update for the Windows Phone 7 OS. It seems not all devices will qualify for this update though. Those phones that have been updated previously via any unofficial channel, would not be able to get this update and any further to follow.

T-Mobile Motorola Defy Android 2.2 Froyo Update Available

Owners of T-Mobile's rugged Motorola Defy - rejoice! The first (and hopefully not last, but to be honest, it probably is) major software update for your smartphone has just become officially available. The Motorola Defy shipped with Android 2.1, and ever since its release people have been waiting for the Froyo update. Well, many, many months later, it's here.

Verizon Samsung Fascinate Android 2.2 Froyo Update Begins On 21 April

The Android 2.2 Froyo update is finally about to hit the Samsung Fancinate, Verizon's Galaxy S. Rejoice! Sure, almost five entire months have passed since Google has released Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but Verizon customers who own Fascinate smartphones should be happy either way - at least they are getting a new OS version.
