Google Activates 550K Droids A Day, Posts Record Q2 Earnings

During the earnings call today, Google announced some big numbers. They made a lot of cash, but more interestingly (for us) Android is growing faster and faster - 550 thousand devices get activated each day, which is crazy when you consider that the number was 500 thousand just a couple of weeks ago.

Google Updates Android Market App On The Phone

Google has face-lifted the Android Market app on the phone. The new design ditches the curvy lines of the previous version and uses a more functional squarish design. The new UI fits more apps and content on the screen at once and uses convenient side swipes for moving between different categories. There are also new categories in the Android Market app, such as staff picks and Editor's Choice apps.

Google Android @ Home Announced

We certainly have had some interesting announcements for Google today, the latest one is called Android @ Home, and Google has unveiled the Android @ Home framework.

Google has released some details on Android activations an this year Google I/O conference, and the company is now activating more than 400,000 Android devices per day.

HTC: T-Mobile G2 Will Get Gingerbread

This week, I started formally tracking the Android 2.3 upgrade for devices around the world. Despite the dozens of phones that made my initial list, many of you noticed the absence of one high-profile handset: HTC's T-Mobile G2, the successor to the Android phone that started it all.
