PlayStation Vita Japan Launch Date Announced, NTT DoCoMo To Provide 3G Connectivity

Sony has announced the launch date for the highly anticipated PlayStation Vita. The device will be launching in Japan on 17 December this year. Unfortunately, as far as the rest of the world is concerned, we are still looking at an early 2012 launch.

Sony Corp took the wraps off its next generation portable gaming machine, PlayStation Vita, a touch-interface and motion-sensitive handheld that outdoes its workhorse PlayStation Portable and will go in sale before the winter holidays.

Sony Still Working On Restoring The PlayStation Network

Sony has releases more details about the PlayStation Network on their blog, and the company has announced that they are still working to restore services to the PSN. According to the latest announcement, Sony are working to confirm the security of the network infrastructure, and also still working with a number of outside companies to confirm the security of the system.

LA Noire Occupying Three Xbox360 Discs

Despite Microsoft testing out a new disc format, its currently stuck with the old 9 GB a pop DVDs and that can only mean one thing for ambitious titles that tend to bring entire cities and possibly hundreds of thousands of virtual people to life. PlayStation 3 exclusivity, zing! Or they can just go the multi-disc round, like LA Noire is. "Please insert the next game disc to continue".

Sony Eircsson Xperia Play Not Hit By PSN Breach

The first PlayStation phone, Sony Ericssoin's Xperia Play, is not affected by the massive data breach of PlayStation user accounts, the phone maker said. Late in April, Sony Corp warned that hackers had stolen names, addresses and possibly credit card details from almost 80 million users of its PlayStation online network, in one of the largest ever Internet security breaches.

Sony Online Entertainment Hacked, 12700 Credit Cards Stolen

Not quite out of the frying pan, but into the fire anyway: Sony just acknowledged another network breach related to the first one. Wait, there is a second one? You bet! And this one involved Sony Online Entertainment, the company's online gaming division responsible for stuff like Everquest and DC Universe Online. Put it this way: SOE is officially dead in the water, as of 1:30am PT, Monday, 2nd May. This, after the company spent yesterday apologizing for the whole debacle.

Sony Executives Hang Heads In Shame Over PlayStation Network Breach

Almost two weeks after the initial intrusion at their San Diego data center, Sony's President CEO and Senior VPs issued an official apology from a press conference at their Tokyo headquarters. Bowing deeply in shame, they promised new software updates and offered "Welcome Back" programs for user compensation.

Sony To Resume Some PlayStation Gaming Services

Sony has said it will resume some services on its PlayStation Network, which was shut after the theft of personal details of about 77m users. Sony officials said they had boosted the security of their computer systems after user names, email addresses and log-in details were stolen.

Silent Hill Downpour Screens Look A Bit Alan Wake

Konamo has released a few new screens from the latest entry in its long-running survival horror series Silent Hill. Silent Hill Downpour is being developed by Vatra Games and follows Murphy Pendleton, a convicted criminal who finds himself stranded in the mysterious town. The game takes place in new areas of Silent Hill, which can be seen in these screens.
