GetJar Survey Shows Android Trumping The iPhone

App distribution giant GetJar has released results of a global survey on the insights and preferences of mobile phone users. The survey showed that 40 percent of respondents said that they would switch to Android the next time they bought a new phone. This is compared to the 16 percent of respondents who said they would be choosing the iPhone.

Said Patrick Mork, CMO of GetJar, "The survey results make it clear that all eyes are on Android, as well as the importance of brand equity in the increasingly comeptitive mobile app space. In addition, the data also reveals that brand marketers and advisters also have a reason to be hopeful about consumer's appetite for in-app advertisement".
The biggest problem facing pusblishers seems to be getting their applications discovered. Only 25 percent of respondents found apps through the actual app store, while nearly 50 percent found the apps they were looking for while browsing online.
These pro-Android results are great news for GetJar. The company hopes to aggressively expand its Android offerings by working with developers to provide a truly "open" Android marketplace, while still supporting other mobile platforms.
