In Canada, Fido has launched a cheap featurephone that has both a T9 phone keypad as well as a side-sliding full physical QWERTY keyboard - the Samsung Linx. The Samsung Linx looks like it can be a texter's dream phone, at least as long as said texter does not care much about smartphones. Or bigh touchscreens.
Seriously though, this is an affordable handset for those who use their phones mainly for texting and, perhaps, phone calls. There are apparently plenty of those people around, so let's get on to introducting the Linx.
It has a 1.3-megapixel camera with video recording capability, an MP3 player, Bluetooth, 50 MB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card slot, a 240x320 screen, and those two different keypads. Its dimensions are 114x53x15 mm, and it weighs 112 grams.
Fido will sell you a Samsung Linx for $10 if you opt to sign a new two-year service agreement, or $110 if you would rather not sign anything.
