HTC Disappoints, EVO 3D GSM Not Making It Out Yet

More news from the HTC home front is not exactly bad but somewhat disappointing. Last week we covered an announcement from the company stating that theu were to launch a GSM version of the EVO 3D, a device loaded up with dual camera for 3D media capture. It was reported that the device was showcased on their official website but it has now been removed.

The EVO 3D will be released of course, however it will be available, initially, only for the US CDMA market. The listing on the website for the GSM version was apparently an error on the company's part. On the bright side, its also been reported that the GSM version, although not yet officially announced for the global market, will make it out, we just do not know when yet. It will be equipped with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and an Adreno 220 GPU with a Qualcomm chipset and run Android 2.3 also called Gingerbread.

Just to give you a glimpse of the handset's specs, here is what it would brintg to the table -
  • A 4.3-inch 3D S-LCD display sporting a 540 x 960 pixel resolution
  • 3G connectivity (14.4 Mbps), Wi-Fi with DLNA compatibility, WiMAX support
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP + EDR, USB 2.0
  • 5 MP autofocus camera with a Dual LED flash
  • GPS with A-GPS support and geotagging
  • 2 Megapixel Stereoscopic image capture and 720p 3D video capture + 1080p video capture in 2D
  • XviD video codec support
  • Stereo FM radio
  • Active nose cancellation for clear voice calling
  • 1GB of internal storage space and microSD card support
  • HDMI Out
Its quite possible we would see this handset make it to the global shelf sometime later this year but for now, we will just have to lick our wounds and curtail our disappointment.
