T-Mobile myTouch4G Gets Gingerbread Update

The boffins over at XDA Developers have done it again. Their latest present comes in the form of an Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for T-Mobile's myTouch4G. This US-only handset hit the stores running Froyo and it has not been updated since.

This update is an unofficial release based on a leak, courtesy of JoelZ9614 and faux123 on the XDA forums. So the good news is that even if you decide to skip it, T-Mobile is probably going to make an official release in the near future.
So what do you actually get with myTouch flavoured Gingerbread? For a start the notifications drop-down panel now comes with a 'Quick Settings' tab that allows you to switch all your favourite connectivity options (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, GPS and Mobile Network) 'on' and 'off' rather than needing a widget on one of your home screens, handy. Other than that the improvements and additions must be going on behind-the-scenes because there is not a whole lot left to talk about.
If you want to get the update for youself, 911HTC sniper blog have got a nice little package waiting to flash here, but be aware as usual, its best to know what your doing and always back everything up! Android Central have in fact made a video so you can see the changes without the risk of confusing you own myTouch, check it out.
