HTC has announced its Q1 2011 results, unveiling record revenues, and record net profits. The Taiwanese company sold 9.7 million handsets in the quarter - 192% more than in Q1 2010; and 6% more than in the previous quarter (Q4 2010). This brought total revenues of 104.16 billion Taiwan dollars (about 3.6 billion USD), and net profits of 14.38 billion Taiwan dollars (about 518 million USD).
Most of HTC's handsets sold in Q1 2011 were Android-based. The company stated that "new products launched in 1Q -- inspire 4G, Thunderbolt, EVO Shift 4G, Desire S, Incredible S -- were met with strong customer demands".
With new smartphones (like the HTC Sensation, or the Facebook-centric Salsa and ChaCha) coming soon, HTC expects to ship at least 11 million devices in the second quarter of the year. The Taiwanese company will also launch its first tablet (HTC Flyer) this quater - people are really curious to see if it manages to sell more than 1 million of those or not.
