Fido To Release Nokia C6 In Canada For $275 Sans Contract

Fido is soon going to launch the Nokia C6. No, not that one, but its slightly older brother. To be absolutely accurate, we must say that we are talking about the Nokia C6-00 here, and not the C6-01. Thank Nokia for its sometimes baffling naming scheme.

Anyway, the Nokia C6 runs Symbian^1 -- S60 5th Edition -- the version of Symbian that would not get the fabled new UI that's coming sometime this summer. So this phone is not quite future proof, from a software standpoint at least.
It is, however, a perfectly decent device for someone who has not used a smartphone before, or has, for some reason, been a Nokia user in the past (no matter how rare that occurence might be anywhere in North America). The Nokia C6 has a 3.2-inch 360x640 resistive touchscreen, a side-sliding full physical QWENTRY keyboard, a 434 MHz ARM 11 processor, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and VGA (640x480) video recording, GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 240 MB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot.
According to MobileSyrup, Fido will price the C6 at $275 - without the requirement to sign a contract. On-contract pricing has not leaked or been announced yet, so stay tuned.
