After having a blurry render and most of its specs leaked during this past weekend, the Samsung Galaxy Prevail is bound to be officially unveiled by Boost Mobile later today. However, it looks like the carrier has gone all trigger-happy and gave the go-ahead for the Prevail's website earlier today.
The dedicated site for the Samsung Galaxy Prevail contains little info that we did not already know from the leak, but it's basically all the confirmation that's needed that this device will indeed be sold by Boost Mobile. The Galaxy Prevail seems to be a lower-midrange offering that borrows the design language from the higher-end Galaxy S line.
The Galaxy Prevail has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, a 2-megapixel (!) camera with video recording capabilities, and a microSD card slot. The Galaxy Prevail runs Android 2.2 Froyo, which in this day and age is rather unfortunate.
The price will be $179.99. If at this point you are expecting to read the "with new two-year contract" phrase seen almost everywhere when mentioning phone prices in the US these days, you are in for a surprise. That's going to be $179.99 without any contract whatsoever.
So sure, this device does not pack the best of this or the greatest of that, but it looks good, has all the basics, and considering the lack of contract, is dirt cheap.
