LG Optimus Black Officially Headed To North America, Pink and White Versions Coming Soon

LG has officially announced that its Optimus Black Android smartphone would be released in Europe later this month. Of course, we already knew this. What we did not know is that LG plans to introduce the Optimus Black in North America, too - sometime after the European launch. The South Korean company did not say which North American carrier will offer the new handset. However, its likely that at least one in the US and one in Canada will do it.

The Optimus Black is really slim and light (9.2mm, 109 grams). It runs Android 2.2 Froyo - upgradeable to Android 2.3 - and features a 4 inch WVGA Nova display which "provide optimal brightness and clarity that allows for enhanced readability". It also comes with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 5 megapixel autofocus rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 720p video recording, 1GHz processor, 2GB of on board memory, and MicroSD card support (up to 32GB).
Starting next month, pink and white versions of the Optimus Black will be available. We wonder if their names will be changed to Optimus Pink and Optimus White (almost probably not).
The LG Optimus Black should cost around 350 pounds - more or less, depending on the country you buy it from.
